Exhibition-cum contest held to encourage budding photographers in Mangaldai

MANGALDAI, Aug 2: In a unique effort to inspire and encourage young talents to the world of photography, a young entrepreneur, Hiren Deka of ‘Pahi Production’ of Darrang, organized a day-long exhibition-cum-contest on photography recently, synchronizing with the centenary celebration of Mangaldai Town Club.

The exhibition-cum- photography contest ‘Exposure Meter 2018’, organized for the first time in Mangaldai at Sainik Bhavan, was dedicated in loving memory of eminent photographer and director Indu Kalpa Hazarika. A total of 250 photographers took part in the contest-cum-exhibition. Prominent photographer and an officer of Indian Police Service, Vivek Raj Singh also extended hearty cooperation by sending several of his photographs to the exhibition which were highly appreciated by the critics. Vivek Raj Singh is currently serving in a district in Madhya Pradesh as Superintendent. Earlier he had rendered his service as Superintendent of Police twice in Darrang district after serving in several districts of Bihar.

Chairman of Jyoti Chitrabon, Pabitra Margherita ceremonially inaugurated the photography contest and exhibition in presence of a large number of photography lovers and young photographers. Director of repute, Samarendra Narayan Dev, eminent writer, actor, director and composer Hemanta Dutta, and artist Dadul Chaliha graced the function as the invited guests and appreciated the initiative of organizer Hiren Deka.

In the photography contest, Dip Jyoti Das of Barpeta was adjudged as the winner and Tripti Kalpa Hazarika, daughter of Indu Kalpa Hazarika offered him a memento along with a cash amount of Rs. 10,000. On the other hand, upcoming talent in photography, Nayanjit Kalita of Mangaldai bagged the second prize and Mangaldai Town Club offered him a memento along with an amount of Rs. 5000 in cash at the function anchored by media person Bhargab Kumar Das.
