Dibrugarh, July 9: The Assam Branch Indian Tea Association (ABITA) Zone 1, Dibrugarh Circle organized a day-long free cancer screening camp in collaboration with Dipsikha Cancer Foundation, Guwahati at Muttuck Tea Estate on Monday, for the tea garden community people. The secretary of zone 1 ABITA, Madhurjya Barooah informed that Dibrugarh Circle of ABITA Zone 1 initiated the entire process in organizing the camp headed by Senior Manager of Muttock tea estate and chairman of Dibrugarh Circle, Sailen Goswami, in support with Deepsikha Cancer Foundation, for the benefit of the tea garden workers and residents within the vicinity. While inaugurating the camp, Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri spoke about the importance of pre-health check-up by each individual to avoid any serious health issue. She also spoke about the various steps taken by the government on health issues for the benefit of the people and appreciated the initiative taken by ABITA Zone 1. A team comprising of eight Medical Officers from Deepsikha Cancer Foundation and ABITA, lead by Dr Mrinmoyee Barua from Deepsikha Cancer Foundation, Guwahati, attended the camp and rendered necessary technical assistance in free health screening of the people.
