Measles Rubella vaccination campaign

Tezpur, April 23: An orientation meeting on Measles Rubella vaccination campaign was held on Monday at the DC office conference hall. The meeting was organized by the Sonitpur district administration in collaboration with the District Health Society, Sonitpur,  under the chairmanship of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur, Kishan Kumar Sharma to discuss the preparedness and the action to be undertaken by each of the stakeholders to sensitize and create awareness regarding the vaccination.

 During the meeting, ADC KK Sharma said that in case of pregnant women if infected, it can cause miscarriage and serious birth defects in the unborn baby. The main objective of the campaign is to eliminate and control the deadly disease Measles Rubella in the district. He appealed to parents, school Principals and teachers to cooperate with the authority and to get their children immunized so that Measles Rubella could be completely eliminated and controlled. He further added that during the MR campaign, this vaccine would be given to all children between the age group of nine months to 15 years and the campaign is scheduled to begin from May 21 in the district.
