Take expeditious steps to b culprits: ACKHSA
SILCHAR, April 25: All Cachar-Karimganj-Hailakandi Students’ Association (ACKHSA) has demanded expeditious steps to b the culprits involved in the gruesome murder of Shila Deb Kanungo and her son Soumitra Deb Kanungo at their Link Road residence on the night of April 9 last. In a memorandum submitted to the Superintendent of Police of Cachar on Saturday, ACKHSA advisor Rupam ndi Purkayastha said it is really unfortute that the assailants are still at large.
The civil society and the citizens of the town are worried that within a short span of time, crimils have become active to disturb the peace and tranquility of the town. About a year ago, husband and wife were found murdered in their house at 1st Link Road in mysterious circumstances. The assailants are still at large. It is however commendable that the crimils involved in the murder of Kamrul Islam Talukdar, a medicine businessman, were brought to book within 48 hours of the crime by the police.
Considering the wider ramification of the murder of mother and son, it is earnestly urged upon to explore and examine all possible angles to hook the crimils and mete them out exemplary punishment for the sake of justice. This will be in the larger interests of the people of this town who want to live in peace and prevalence of rule of law.
