Talent and skills from north-east on display at 'North East Destition 2016'

New Delhi, Feb 14: The second day of the ‘North East Destition 2016’ being held at the Pragati Maidan here witnessed talent and skills from the north-east region.

North-east students from the prestigious tiol Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) showcased the emerging designs from the north-east region during the event, which has been organised by the DoNER Ministry.

Ethnic, authentic handicrafts and traditiol apparel was highlighted during the event besides the exquisite designs and trends of the north-east region.

At the cultural event, folk fusion and crossover music from the region were also presented.

Guru Rewben Mashangva, an accomplished band from north-east, also performed at the event, which also witnessed performances from other highly accomplished bands such as Mayukh Hazarika, Purple Fusion and Rida and The Musical Folks.

“Culturally, India is so very diverse. Each state has its own beauty and uniqueness. I am very happy that the programme is very successful. We are all here from all over India” said Maldi Rawat, one of the organizers.

Puppa Chatterjee, a visitor, said the government must promote such handicrafts in the country. The festival is aimed at attracting a combition of tourist and potential investors, besides bridging the gap between the rest of India and the north-east region. (ANI)
