Tanushree Dutta‘s sexual harassment case against Nana Patekar closed by police

Mumbai: Although this was previously denied by actress Tanushree Dutta that the case she filed against Nana Patekar is not closed and the rumours are false, but the rumours seems to be a fact now as police close the case against the actor. As this was the first ever case unveiled during the MeToo movement in India, with the closure of the case against Nana Patekar, it marks an en end to the first case.

According to some media reports, police closed this case on grounds that there was ‘no prima facie case against the actor’.

As alleged by Tanushree earlier, Nana Patekar had behaved her inappropriately on the sets of her film ‘Horn Ok Pleassss’ that also featured Nana. As per her allegations, as there was a song featuring the two actors, Nana had forcefully included intimate steps to be portrayed between the two. She even added that the choreographer of the song Ganesh Acharya too decided to be 'obedient' and step aside on seeing nana wanting to do this forcefully. However, Tanushree walked out of the film and later, Rakhi Sawant was taken in her place for the song.

Refuting the news of Nana Patekar’s case being closed by police earlier, Tanushree had said that this is nothing but an attempt of the public relation team of Nana to spread false rumours as the accused has stopped getting work in the industry due to the charges.

Giving the first spark to the #MeToo movement, Tanushree Dutta was the first actress to come out in public and make charges of sexual harassment against senior actor Nana Patekar. Many actresses of the silver and small screen later followed Tanushree in this and several eye-opening cases of sexual harassment against male co-actors or related people had come to light.

Tanushree has not been seen in the film industry from quite a few years from now whereas Nana Patekar is one quite frequent face for which some had even alleged that the charges put on him by Dutta are fake and are mere efforts of attention-grabbing.
