Tax experts across India to attend National Tax Convention in city

GUWAHATI: Tax experts across India will start assembling in the city here from December 21 to participate in the National Tax Convention.

The All India Federation of Tax Practitioners (AIFTP) and Tax Bar Association, Guwahati are jointly organizing the 21st National Tax Convention designed as “SAARTHI” in Guwahati from December 21. The theme of the convention is - Globalization and Changes in Tax Laws- Role and Responsibilities of Tax Professionals in Nation Building.

The three-day long mega convention will start with National Executive Committee meeting of AIFTP on December 21. The inaugural ceremony will be held on December 22 at the auditorium of Gauhati Medical College & Hospital which will be graced by galaxies of guests including judges of the Supreme Court as well as Gauhati High Court. The convention is designed in five technical sessions spread over two days wherein topics of recent developments in taxation and other allied laws will be discussed and deliberated upon by eminent speakers from the Country.

The key topics to be deliberated upon are- areas of litigation under GST and special importance of Judicial Rulings under earlier laws, analysis of cash transactions under Income Tax Act with special reference to demonetization period assessment, judiciary – yesterday, today & tomorrow, impact of new insolvency law on income tax assessment, new insolvency and bankruptcy law- challenges & opportunities.

The Convention will be concluded with valedictory session on December 23.

This convention will be attended by nearly 1000 delegates from different parts of the Country. The entry to the program is by registration only. Further various Officers from Tax departments & members of society are also likely to attend the program.

Senior Advocate Dr. Ashok Kumar Saraf who is presently the Deputy President of All India Federation of Tax Practitioners, is the Chairman of the Convention. He is also going to be elevated as National President of All India Federation of Tax Practitioners in this convention only. Senior advocate Gajanand Sahewala and president of Tax Bar Association Gopal Singhania, are Co-Chairmen of the Convention. Advocate Kamal Agarwal is the Convention Secretary. Advocate Sanjay Kumar Sureka & CA Manoj Nahata are Vice- Chairmen, advocate Suman Chetia, advocate Amit Goyal and advocate Bharat Kumar Purohit are Joint Secretaries of the Organising Committee.
