GUWAHATI: The tea tribe leader Rameswar Teli has won the elections for the 17th Lok Sabha on behalf of the BJP from Dibrugarh constituency with the biggest margin of votes. The Opposition Congress candidate Pradyut Bardaloi has won the election from Nowgong constituency with the lowest margin of votes.

While Teli has defeated his rival Congress heavyweight Pabon Singh Ghatowar by 3,64,566 votes, Bardaloi defeated BJP candidate Rupak Sarma by a margin of 16,752 votes.

In Dibrugarh, Teli received 6, 57,983 votes and Ghatowar got 2, 94,663 votes.

In Nowgong, altogether 7, 39,724 votes were cast in favour of Bardaloi and Sarma received 7, 22,972 votes.

On the other hand, in the prestigious Gauhati constituency BJP candidate Queen Oja received 10,08,936 votes and Congress candidate Bobbeeta Sharma got 6,63,330 votes. Oja defeated Sharma by a margin of 3,45, 606 votes.

In Lakhimpur constituency BJP candidate Pradan Baruah (7,76,406 votes) defeated Congress contender Anil Borgohain (4,25,855 votes) by a margin of 3,50,551 votes.

The Karimgang seat has been won by BJP candidate Kripanath Mallah (4,73,046 votes) against AIUDF candidate Radhe Shyam Biswas (4,34,657 votes) by a margin of 38,398 votes.

The Silchar seat has been won by Rajdeep Roy of the BJP (4,96,234 votes) against the Congress heavyweight Sushmita Deb (4,16,233 votes) by a margin of 81,596 votes.

BJP’s Pallav Lochan Das (6,84,166 votes) won the Tezpur seat against Congress’ MGVK Bhanu (4,41,325 votes) by a margin of 2,42,841 votes.

Dilip Saikia of the BJP (7,35,469 votes) defeated Congress heavyweight Bhubaneshwar Kalita (5,96,924 votes) by a margin of 1,38,545 votes.

The Autonomous District (Diphu) seat has been won by BJP candidate Horen Sing Bey (3,81,316 votes) against Congress veteran Biren Singh Ingti (1,41,690 votes) by a margin of 2,39,626 votes.

In an interesting contest, the Jorhat seat has ben won by Topon Kumar Gogoi of the BJP (5,43,288 votes) against Congress’ Sushanta Buragohain (4,60,635 votes) by a margin of 1,02,420 votes.

Gaurav Gogoi of the Congress (7,86,092 votes) retained the Kaliabor seat by defeating his rival AGP candidate Moni Madhab Mahanta (5,76,098 votes) by a margin of 2,09,994 votes.

The Barpeta seat was won by the Congress candidate Abdul Khaleque (6,45,173 votes) against the AGP leader Kumar Dipak Das (5,04,866 votes) by a margin of 1,40,307 votes.

The AIUDF chief Maulana Badaruddin Ajma (7,18,764 votes) retained Dhubri parliamentary seat by defeating his rival Congress candidate Abu Taher Bepari (4,92, 506 votes) by a margin of 2,26,258 votes.

The independent candidate Naba Kumar Sarania (4,84, 560 votes) emerged victorious in Kokrajhar constituency for the second time by defeating BPF candidate Pramila Rani Brahma (4,46,774 votes) by a margin of 37,786 votes.

The BJP has won the election by more than 3 lakh votes in Dibrugarh, Gauhati & Lakhimpur constituencies.
