Teacher posted to non-functional school, alleges union

OUR CORRESPONDENT

ITANAGAR, July 9: The All Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU) has alleged that an assistant teacher (SSA) was posted to the government primary school in Jajing Tapo in Mengio circle in violation of the laid down norms. The teacher was reportedly posted in 2014 to the school which the union claims is non-functional.

The APPDSU said that, as per the RTI reply received from the Papum Pare DDSE, there are five non-functional government primary schools in Mengio circle – Bong, Jajing Tapo, Tagik, Lakang and Arung (recently listed as non-functional).

It demanded that the education department initiate disciplinary action against the teacher in question as well as the DDSE responsible, claiming that as per the department’s transfer and posting rules, no teacher can be posted to non-functional or defunct schools.
