Technology platform Swasthyaa launched at Guwahati Press

GUWAHATI, July 24: Swasthyaa, a technology platform supported through a software interface was launched at Guwahati press club on Tuesday by Director of Health Services Dr R Bhuyan. The application is designed to ease the health administrators, medical officers and health workers to track and monitor the tuberculosis patients in real time.

Launching the application, Dr Bhuyan informed the reporters that the State Tuberculosis (TB) Cell and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati have jointly developed this software which will be implemented in Kamrup (M) and Nalbari district on a pilot mode. This software will help in tracking dropouts among presumptive TB patients (people having symptoms of TB) referred by health care providers to the designated microscopy centers.

Additional Director (SP) cum State Programme Officer, Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP) Dr NJ Das informed that identification of presumptive TB cases through mobile application is first of its kind in the country. Principle Investigator of the Swasthyaa and Associate Professor of IIT Guwahati Keyur Sorathia informed that this application can be used by health providers from their mobile phones to record information of patients. Associate Professor of IIT Guwahati Pratul Kalita, one of the investigators of the project, assured that once phone numbers of the people having symptoms are recorded they can be motivated to go to health centres through audio messages.
