SHILLONG, June 7: As tension mounts in the capital city over the opposition of Railway project in Ri-Bhoi district and the subsequent arrest of Khasi Student Uinion (KSU) leaders a truck near the Meter Factory located at Lumjingshai was burnt by unknown miscreants. When contacted the SP East Khasi Hill district Davis N Marak informed that a boarding truck was burnt by unknown people, however the truck was not heavily damaged. Asked whether the incident can be linked to the present opposition to the proposed Railway line in Ri-Bhoi district, the SP however said, “As of now since the incident is being done by unknown persons we are not on the position to comment or speculate on the matter as of now on who is exactly responsible.”

He further said that the people involved in the incident will be known once the investigation into the case is completed.

“We don’t have any witnesses to the incident so as of right now we cannot speculate,” Marak said.
