TET teachers stage hunger strike

From a Correspondent

Chirang, October 13: The All BTAD LP (Lower Primary) and UP (Upper Primary) Contractual TET Teachers’ Association launched a 100-hour hunger strike at Kajalgaon from Tuesday in support of various demands.

The demands include regularization of posts pertaining to the advertisement of 2,125 permanent vacant posts vide Letter No. DE/BTC/Apptt-165/A/2013/145, payment of balance remuneration for last eight months in a single premium, equal remuneration and privileges with the TET teachers appointed under SSA with provision for D.EI.Ed, and regularization of posts and until regularization automatic extension of period of service.

The association stated that the BTC education authority had appointed around 3,500 TET qualified candidates in LP and UP schools of BTAD on February 10, 2015 on contractual basis for six months (now the period of six months has been extended up to 12 months) on remuneration of Rs 8,000 per month, but till today they had not got any salary. Moreover, the BTAD education authority has not taken any measures for the regularization of the posts. The association said that the TET qualified teachers under SSA were getting Rs 17,000 per month as salary, but the BTC Education authority had promised to pay remuneration of Rs 8,000 per month to the teachers who had qualified through the same exam and were working under the same posts. This, alleged the association, was injustice.
