Thefts in Sivasagar town

Joysagar, Jan 30: Two burglary incidents took place in Sivasagar town on Monday night. As per reports, businessman Matul Ahmed and his five-member family were allegedly poisoned by the housemaid Jahara Begaum of gaon. After taking dinner, the Matul family fell asleep and taking advantage of this, a gang of thieves looted the house. Police revealed that cash amounting to lakhs as well as some gold orments were looted. Sivasagar Police arrived on the spot and after primary investigation, booked the housemaid on suspicion for further interrogation.

Besides, a local leader of the All India United Democratic Front, (AIUDF) and a resident of Babupatty, Sivasagar, was looted by suspected thieves as the gang entered his house and stole valuables as well as around Rs 50,000 cash. An FIR was lodged in the Sivasagar PS in this regard. Police investigation is on.
