Tezpur, Oct 17: In a bid to give justice to the victim family of Biplab Ghosh, who died under mysterious circumstances on August 25, and to give punishment to the accused, local people of the greater Balipara area under Chariduar Police station in Sonitpur district, including Balipara Development Association, All Assam Students’ Union, Balipara Chapter, Balipara Businessmen Association, Mahila Samiti, Bengali Yuba Chatra Federation and Nepali Students’ Union submitted a memorandum to the in-charge of the Chariduar Police Station demanding thorough investigation into the murder case.
The police recovered the body hanging in a room near the bank and a suicide note from the possession of the deceased. In the suicide note, the me of Santosh Thakuria was reportedly mentioned and the person was allegedly held responsible for this brutal act. Police, following recovery of the suicide note, arrested the accused and sent him to jail. But even after considerable time, the investigation process is allegedly not progressing on the right track and this has drawn sharp criticism from the local people. It is still not clear whether it was a suicide or Biplab was murdered.
Local people and various organizations also lamented that the higher authority of the bank was yet to meet Biplab’s family. In the meantime, a proposal was taken unimously at a public meeting that was organized under the aegis of various organizations at Balipara recently and a memorandum was submitted to the Regiol Mager, Assam Gramin Bikash Bank, Lakhimpur Branch urging to give appointment to Momi Kunwar, wife of Biplab Ghosh, on compassiote ground.
