Three-day AAU annual college meet kicks off

JORHAT, Nov 27: The three-day Annual College Meet, 2017 organized by the students of the Colleges of Agriculture, Horticulture and Sericulture kicked off at the Assam Agricultural University (AAU) stadium, Jorhat campus. It was iugurated by Virendra Mittal, the Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat on Monday.

Mittal called upon the student fraternity to keep the spirit of sportsmanship during their participation in various events in the annual sports day meet where students from the three colleges will be in the fray.

The Vice Chancellor of AAU, Dr. Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah called upon the participating players to be sincere and patient while taking part in various events that will continue for three days. He said sports would help people to know each other through team work for which they needed patience and hard work.

Dr. Dipti Kumar Bora, the Dean of AAU, and officers on special duty from the three colleges along with faculty members were present on the iugural session of the annual sports meet.

Earlier, DC Virendra Mittal, VC Dr Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah, the Registrar Arpan Saikia, Director of Students Welfare, Dipak Kumar Borah iugurated the event by releasing some balloons. The girls’ contingent of Hostel XII was adjudged first in the march past followed by Hostel IV in second place and Hostel VII in third place. The trophy was handed over to the winners by VC Dr. Bujarbaruah, Dean Dr. Borah and Registrar of AAU.
