Three KHM candidates take oath

SHILLONG, Nov 29: The Khun Hynñiewtrep tiol Awakening Movement (KHM) administered oath to the three candidates of the party who will be contesting for the MDC by-election to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) scheduled to be held on December 13, here in front of the statue of U Tirot Sing at the State Central Library here on Tuesday. The three candidates are Bankhraw Sing Kharbuli from Laban–Mawprem constituency, Edarstar Nongbri from Nongkrem constituency and Pyndapbor Marshillong from Mawthadraishan constituency. Pyndapborthiaw Saiborn, President KHM in his speech said that the district council till date does not have the Anti-Defection Law or a law which bars an MDC to switch to party after he is elected as MDC which is matter of concern. “We have administered oath to the three candidates infront of the statue of U Tirot Sing so as to instill upon the candidates the fact that there is no law above the conscience a person have inside his heart and to remain true to his principles and not to switch party till the end of the term,” he said.
