Three Labourers drowned inside 60 ft deep well in Ri-Bhoi's Mawdiangdiang

Shillong: Today at around 10:30 am to 11:20 am three Labourers from Umroi village under Ri-Bhoi district working under the contractor Kemel Marbaniang of Umroi village got stuck and drowned inside a well.

As per sources, one of them identified as Banplie Syiem (28) and other two whose names could not ascertain so far, while working in a well approx 50 to 60 ft deep in Diengiong village Mawdiangdiang.

Eyewitnesses also claimed that one of them went down to untie the rope tied with cemented wall ring but due to the smell of the smoke coming from the water pump he felt dizziness and sought help. Seeing this other two went down to help him but unfortunately, all of them got stuck and drown inside the well.

Meanwhile, SDRF Rescuing team led by ASI Paul Sangkly with the help of other Labourer's are throwing out water using bucket so that they can take out the dead bodies of labourers.

Rescuing is still under process.
