Three minor girls meet watery grave in Dhakuakhona Sampora River

LAKHIMPUR: Three minor girls died by drowning in the Sampora River in Dhakuakhona subdivision Lakhimpur district on Sunday. These girls were identified as Lulumoni Taid (12), daughter of Tularam Taid, Sunita Tawo (10), daughter of Tarani Tawo, and Hema Malini Pawo (10), daughter of Manik Pawo, permanent residents of Oyengia Mising Borgaon under Ghilamora Police Station of the subdivision.

As per report, some children had gone to the paddy fields with their parents as it is the reaping season of ‘Ahu’ paddy. Due to the heat, all of them went to the nearby Sampora River to take bath. Unfortunately, the three minor girls drowned in the river while taking bath along with their friends. As soon as the news spread, the Circle Officers of Subansiri Revenue Circle, Krishna-Arjun Barman and Chinmoy Neog, along with Ghilamora Police Station OC Bhaben Dihingia, arrived at the spot. Later, police recovered the bodies of the girls and sent them for post-mortem to North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital.
