Three shops gutted

MANGALDAI/KALAIGAON, April 29: In a devastating fire that broke out at village Chakiapara Nonoighat on the Mangaldai-Majikuchi Road under Sipajhar Police Station in Darrang district, three shops were totally gutted. Before the firemen could reach the spot, the inferno transformed three shops into ashes. These three shops are a hardware and grill shop owned by Khanindra Kalita and a cycle shop owned by Apurba Deka. The inferno caused a total estimated loss of Rs. 6 lakh to Khanindra Kalita and Rs. 1.5 lakh to Apurba Deka. Electric short circuit is suspected to be the cause of this devastating fire. However, the firemen are conducting a proper investigation into it.
