Three youths continue fast-unto-death

GOLAGHAT, May 21: Amidst Statewide protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, three youths of Golaghat have been sitting on a fast-unto-death since May 19 against the proposed bill. The youths are Pintu Gogoi, resident of Doigrung and HS second year student, Dipankar Gogoi, resident of Ahom Gaon and student of Biseswar Phukan Jr. College and Padmalochan Gogoi, resident of Ahom Gaon and a student of Golaghat Commerce College. The health condition of the three youth is said to be critical. On Monday, one of them Dipankar Gogoi was admitted at Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hopsital due to poor health.

Talking to the media, the youths said that they would continue their fast unto death until assurance of withdrawal of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill by the government. Interestingly, though three days have passed, no representative of the district administration visited them.
