Timber logs seized, two drug smugglers held

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 18: In a continued operation against drug and timber smugglers in the bordering area of Indo-Bhutan border of Chirang and Kokrajhar districts, the 16th Bn.SSB, Ranighuli has achieved much success recently in this circle. The Coy Tukrabasti along with Border Outpost at Sopur apprehended two persons with illegal and restricted drug items during a combined search operationon recently in the Dadgiri market area.  The party seized SP Tablets and N-10 Tablets (drug items) worth Rs 4,400. The apprehended persons are identified as Shyam Bahadur Bhandari (29), son of Sh. Bal Bahadur Bhandari of village No.2 Majhi Basti (Upper Majhibasti), Runikhata in Chirang district and Santosh Sribal (23), son of Gopal Sribal of village Hatisar, PS- Runikhata of the same district. Further, the apprehended persons were handed over to the police outpost at Dadgiri along Indo-Bhutan border and case has been registered vide no. 13/16 under section 22(B) NDPS Act.

In another seizure recently, the operation team of 16th Bn.SSB, Ranighuli along with forest officials conducted a special joint operation under the command of Sh. AKC Singh, Commandant of 16th Bn. SSB, Ranighuli in the Islakatha area and seized  82 unclaimed timber logs worth total Rs 4,72,500.

Besides these, the operation party of Coy Sashipur under command of SI/GD Cheta Ram seized total 6 wooden logs worth Rs 1,12,928 from the ngalbhanga, Jaipur and Madarpara village area recently, which were later handed over to Kwila Mwila Forest Range office in Chirang district.
