tiol Food Security scheme launched in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, Dec 31: The tiol Food Security Act, 2013 was ceremonially launched in Sivasagar district on Sunday in a largely attended public function organized by the district administration in association with the district civil supplies and consumer affairs department here at gar Mahal Hanhchara Samabai Samity office.

Assam Assembly Speaker Prab Gogoi ceremonially launched the programme by handing over a packet of rice at a subsidized price of Rs 3.00 per kg to one beneficiary of mtial Pathar village under Sivasagar LAC.

Addressing the large number of beneficiaries present, Gogoi said that the Assam Government had fulfilled the promise of implementing the NFSA which was made during the 2009 election. Elaborating various welfare schemes initiated by the State Government, Gogoi said the government sometimes had to go through critical phases due to lack ofsupport from the Central Government.

The function chaired by Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal,was also addressed by zira MLA Debabrata Saikia. Speaking on the occasion, Saikia elaborated on the brief history of the Act which was passed in the Parliament during the fag end of the UPA government at the Centre.

Additiol Deputy Commissioner Dhiren Hazarika anchored the distribution ceremony while Charaideo SDO rarayan th explained about the mega distribution chain under the Act which would involve 8.15 lakh people of the district.
