tiol Handloom Day observed

GORESWAR, Aug 10: tiol Handloom Day was observed here at Sajei-Dagaon recently under the aegis of Bihdiya-Jajiko block-level cluster under NHDP, Kamrup at Swaraj Gramin Lokseva Parisad in association with the Ganga Bill Hasta Tat and Bastra Silpa Samabay Samitee Ltd. The programme was iugurated by Lachit Das, BDO, Bihdiya-Jajiko Development Block (BJDB) by lighting the lamp while the objective was explained elaborately by Arabinda Deka, secretary of Ganga Bill Hasta Tat and Bastra Silpa Samabay Samitee Ltd. The function was chaired by Kak Chandra Kalita, Superintendent, Handloom and Textile, Rangiya, which was followed by iuguration of the exhibition of handloom products by Lachit Deka, BDO, BJDB.

On the occasion, a day-long programme was held which was conducted by resource persons from various government departments while Atul Bhagawati (JE), Dharani Das, former officer Riyajul Haque, Inspector of HIT, Harmohan Deka, Headmaster, Pdum Kuwari High School, Hemanta Patowari, Demonstrator of H&T, Girish Deka, social worker, Ratul Saikia, CDE, and Gyanjyoti Saikia, designer, participated in the function. Altogether,  200 weavers  from 12 gram panchayats under Bihdiya Jajiko Block participated in the programme.
