tiol Lok Adalat settles 272 cases

Silchar,  Aug 13: tiol Lok Adalat has come to play a significant role in settling cases through conciliatory approach without the involvement of lawyers or advocates. It is at the direction of the tiol Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, and Assam State Legal Services Authority, tiol Lok Adalat was held here today in the premises of District and Sessions Judge Court. It was on the matter of recovery of suits pending and pre litigation matter. It is significant to note that the parties in a dispute settle the matter amicably with the intervention of the conciliators.

 The help of advocates or any other party is not required. The procedural technicalities are not followed strictly as in regular cases. Every year, hundreds of civil, crimil, matrimonial, labour, land dispute, electricity, revenue as well as municipal matters among other are disposed of through this mechanism. According to Dr. M H Barbhuiya, secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Cachar, as many as 272 cases have been disposed of. And the settled amount is Rs.2,07,35,119. The officials of the bank have expressed their satisfaction in settling the long pending loan cases.

 The people involved in the litigation also have been happy with the banks in showing leniency in arriving at mutually agreed settlements. Dr. Barbhuiya pointed out that the decision of the Lok Adalat is fil. Not only Lok Adalat settles disputes between the two parties but also reduces the number of cases from the court. The settlement is done without any rancour and in a spirit of goodwill. This in turn helps in maintaining peace and tranquillity in social life. Once the parties involved in litigations or cases settle the matter amicably, the rift or conflict between them and family members ends forever. This also goes a long way in helping society to strengthen the bond of unity and solidarity which is the need of the hour.
