tiol semir on ethno history of NE tribes held

KOKRAJHAR, January 12: A two-day ICHR sponsored tiol semir was organized by the department of History, Bodoland University, Kokrajhar, BTC, Assam, on the topic ‘Ethno History of the Tribes of Northeast India’.

The semir was iugurated by the Deputy Chief of BTC, Khampa Borgoyari who highlighted the history of the Bodos as appeared in the Mahabharata. The programme was presided over by Vice Chancellor, Bodoland University, Prof. Hemanta Kr. Baruah. The Registrar of Bodoland University, Dr. Sekhar Brahma delivered the welcome address and keynote address was delivered on the topic of the semir by the Head, Department of History, Bodoland University, Dr. Oim Ranjit Singh.

Many distinguished historians of the country graced the occasion. Among the distinguished dignitaries, Prof. Smriti Kumar Sarkar, Vice Chancellor, Burdwan University, West Bengal rrated the prospects of the history of tools and technology in Northeast India. Prof. Lal De, former Prof. of JNU and Manipur University talked about Chin-Kuki-Mizo tribes. Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, former Registrar and Director CDC, Manipur University delivered his lecture on land administration in Manipur. Moreover, several delegates presented their valuable research papers.
