tiol Voter’s Day observed in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, January 25: Along with the rest of the country, the tiol Voter’s Day was observed by the district administration in the premises of the DC office on Sunday. The programme held on the occasion was attended by former Minister and present MLA Pramila Rani Brahma who was the chief guest. In her speech, Brahma said in a democratic country, the government is formed by the people and therefore, the voters should choose the right candidates to form a good government. She said the country was going to celebrate its 66th Republic Day this year but till today most people were not conscious about their voting rights. She called upon the voters to learn more about their right to vote and for larger participation for a meaningful democracy. Deputy Commissioner Thaneswar Malalar said the tiol Voter’s Day was observed with a view to create greater participation of voters for stronger democracy.  He also that by observing tiol Voter’s Day, the district administration had tried to bring awareness among people so that all citizens who are 18 years and above should register their mes in the voters’ list. The programme was also attended by BTC EM, Mono Kr. Brahma, MCLA Doneswar Goyary, ADC PK Bhagabati, T. Muktiyar, PK Gogoi, District Election Officer Bhaskar Das and Joint Director of Health Services, Kokrajhar.
