MORIGAON, Oct 24: To demand cancellation of the Assam State Region Development Authority Act-2017, the All Tiwa Students’ Union (ATSU), Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) and nine other Tiwa organizations met on Monday at the conference hall of Tiwa Autonomous Council in presence of Chief Executive Member Paban Manta. The organizations under the presidentship of Madan Bordoloi, chairman of TAC, held a crucial discussion on the State Region Development Authority Act-2017 which was passed recently in State assembly for capital extension.
The Tiwa Autonomous Council, All Tiwa Students’ Union and its nine organizations demanded the government to cancel the act. The meeting said that the act was against the indigenous people. It had included 286 revenue villages under Tiwa Autonomous Council and tribal belt blocks.
The organizations demanded the government to strike off the areas under TAC and tribal belt and blocks. Besides in the meeting, the organizations demanded the government to include the TAC in the six schedule list of the Indian constitution. On the other hand, they demanded the government to handover the power of land allotment process under TAC to the Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC).
