TMPK demands introduction of Mising in LP schools

Joysagar, May 6: Takam-Mising-Prepak-Kubang (TMPK) Sivasagar district committee staged a sit-in in front of the DC’s office, Sivasagar on Friday in support of their various demands.

 TMPK Sivasagar district president Dipak Panging and district secretary Dibya Khamti led the protesters. After two hours demonstration, the organization submitted a memorandum to the DC where the organization raised many issues related to the socio-cultural development of the Mising community.

 Introducing Mising language in the LP schools of the Mising Autonomous Council area, setting up a new university in North Lakhimpur, building a Mising Community Bhavan-cum-rest house in Guwahati, and seeking prompt action from the State Government to protect the river side dwellers of Brahmaputra, Desang and Dikhow rivers from the upcoming floods were the main issues the organization raised in the memorandum. About 300 supporters and general members took part in TMPK demonstration.
