Toko Yaram quits Congress in Arunachal Pradesh

A CORRESPONDENT

ITANAGAR: One of the women leaders of the Congress in Arunachal Pradesh, Toko Yaram resigned from the party on Sunday evening after she was denied party ticket to the Yachuli Assembly constituency.

Yaram, who was the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary, said she was leaving the party because of the denial of party ticket.

An active member of the Congress for nearly two decades, Yaram said she had applied for party ticket twice before this year but was denied the ticket then too. She informed that though she had spoken to the APCC chief, she did not get a specific answer on the reasons for denying her party ticket. “I have sacrificed a lot for the party and but my efforts were not valued,” she said and said that she would contest the election with or without Congress ticket.
