Top GNLA cadres escaped

Shillong, March 26: Four top GNLA militants escaped from the clutches of joint operation team at Arongre village under Bajengdoba Police station of North Garo hills on Wednesday night.
The GNLA team comprises of an area commander identified by the alias me of Indian and three hard core cadres identified as Dalton, Randing, Phynus, Thibat, Changdung and other junior cadres, disclosed a police official while describing the heavy exchange of fire during the swoop.
At least three of the cadres were involved in the recent attack on a missiory schools  firing and arson at Tikrikilla, West Garo Hills. The area commander Indian sneaked into North Garo hills along with his followers soon after the manhunt was launched against his group. He is reported to have hid in his tive village before the Police sniped into his veiled residence on Wednesday night. During the swoop one aide identified as Slyvanush G Momin was apprehended. The police official said that he is under interrogation.
The interrogation surrounded on the activities of the GNLA cadres in North Garo Hills and their association with the ULFA cadres commanded by Manoj Rabha @ Dristi Rajkhowa.   
Sources in categorical terms stated that the self styled Commander-in-Chief (C-In-C) Sohan D Shira and the Lower Assam Based area commander Driti Rajkhowa are in constant touch. Besides, the source informed that the bordering north Garo Hills district of Meghalaya and Kamrup-Goalpara belt of Assam have slowly becoming a mecingly belt for counter insurgency forces.
They (mis)use the border villages and the topography to their hilt, stated the police official while pointing at the GNLA-ULFA nexus in the inter state border areas.
