Torchlight rally by ABSU, AGSU for separate Bodoland and Gorkhaland

KOKRAJHAR/Tangla, June 22: The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) and its movement group like NDFB (P) and People’s Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement (PJACBM), with strong support from the All Gorkha Students’ Union (AGSU), on Thursday brought out a huge torchlight rally in every subdivision of the State demanding the creation of separate state of Bodoland and Gorkhaland.
In Kokrajhar town, a huge torch light rally took place in the evening where several hundreds of activists from ABSU, AGSU, NDFB (P) and PJACBM joined the rally. The activists of various organizations shouted slogans demanding the creation of new states in India for equal development for all under the article 2 and 3 of the Constitution of India. The rally got started from Bodofa Children Park to Pragati Bhavan via Jwhwlao Dwimalu Road.
Talking to reporters, the assistant general secretary of the ABSU, Kwrwmdao Wary said the ABSU brought out the torch light rally in every subdivision demanding the creation of Bodoland state and in support of Gorkhaland in West Bengal under the provision of article of 2 and 3 of the Constitution of India. He said the ABSU had been extending its strong support to the demand of Gorkhaland. He said the Government of India invited the ABSU and its movement group on April 26 last for talks but since then there has been no initiative for another round of talks for solution of Bodoland issue. He also warned the Government of India that the movement group would launch a vigorous movement across the country under the banner of Federation of New States in India (FNSI) if the government of India failed to give proper response.
 Former Rajya Sabha MP, UG Brahma said the demand for new States in India was gaining momentum and the time had come for the government to think about the way of solution with due response. He said the demand for Bodoland, Gorkhaland, Vidarbha and Bundelkhand had historical and constitutiol rights. Extending support to the Gorkhaland demand, he said the Gorkhas had legitimate rights for Gorkhaland state and thus, the Bodos also had legitimate rights for Bodoland state. He also said there had been cordial relations between the leaders of Bodoland and Gorkhaland demand group since long and on certain occasions, the relations got spped but this time, they had come together again to raise their demand in the tiol level.
 Ravi Pradha, cultural secretary of BTC region, AGSU, said the union joined the torch light rally with the ABSU and its allied organizations as both the Bodos and the Gorkhas had been demanding separate states since long. He said they had supported each other’s demand for Dtate and as such they will continue to support for Bodoland. He also warned the Government of India that the movement would be vigorous in the days to come if the government failed to bring an amicable solution before the 2019 parliamentary election.
