Track packing machine introduced in Lumding–Silchar converted line

SILCHAR, January 20: As a fil touch to a newly constructed railway line, N.F.Railway has introduced using of Track Packing Machine in the Lumding–Silchar gauge conversion project. The Track Machine which is  about 65 feet long and weighing 55 MT was brought to Silchar by road from Guwahati. The machine was carried by special type of trailer having 72 wheels. The machine was unloaded at Sukritipur with the help of four nos. road cranes. It has started working at Silchar yard from 19.01.2015.

As part of the Mega Block works in Lumding–Silchar gauge conversion project which started from 1st October,2014, track linking works from Km.120 between Harangajao and Ditokcherra to Km 201 at Silchar via Badarpur has already been completed. During this period a major Bridge No.510 with a 30 mt. span through girder has also been completed in between Bandarkhal & Damcherra. Altogether 49 nos. of Ballast rakes have been unloaded at Km 98/2 near Migrendisa upto 19.01.2015.
