Trade unionist brings laurels to Assam

GUWAHATI, June 26: A trade union leader from Assam, ba Kumar Gogoi, has brought laurels to the State and the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), of which he is the president of its Assam State committee. The BMS has as many as seven district committees in Assam. Gogoi is an employee of Oil India Ltd (OIL), Duliajan. Addressing the media at Dispur Press Club here today, Gogoi said that he had been to Japan on invitation in his capacity as the president of the Assam State Committee of the BMS at the recently organized Japan Intertiol Labour Foundation (JILAF) at Tokyo. Gogoi was one among the trade union leaders from six Asian countries – India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippine and Vietm. He was adjudged the best trade unionists among the 11 who had represented Asia at the meet. At the closing ceremony, senior JILAF office-bearers appreciated Gogoi for being a young intertiol trade union leader. He was awarded a certificate by JILAF president Hiroyuki gumo.
