Trained ULFA-I cadre & bodyguard of Drishti Rajkhowa apprehended in Jorhat

Jorhat: In an operation, the Jorhat Police on Monday night apprehended a dreaded United Liberation Front of Assam, Independent (ULFA-I) cadre and bodyguard of Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Drishti Rajkhowa from Nabarasuk area under Bughdhora Police Outpost of Jorhat District.

The apprehended cadre was identified as Dewal Jyoti Dutta alias Dewal Asom.

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, Superintendent of Police, Jorhat District, Nimbalkar Vaibhav Chandrakant said, “Based on secret information, Jorhat Police under the supervision of Officer-in-Charge managed to apprehend the veteran cadre at around 9.30 pm yesterday. As per his version of the statement, he confessed that he had joined the militant outfit ULFA-I in May last year. He was trained in arms and explosives basically LMG, AK series rifles. He got his armed training from Assam, Meghalaya and Bangladesh. He speaks fluent Garo, Bengali, English, Hindi and Assamese languages.”

It may also be mentioned that Drishti Rajkhowa alias Manoj Rabha is said to be one of the close confidantes of the group’s commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah and an RPG expert.
