Itanagar: The second round of training for polling personnel for the upcoming elections was held at Pasighat Town-Club in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday. Election training nodal officer Koj Yambang organized the training while master trainers Dr DP Panda, Dr SK Sinha and Dr JR Padi imparted the training including demonstrations of EVM and VVPAT.

Altogether, 308 polling personnel including presiding and polling officers received hands-on training including instructions regarding EVM and VVPAT usage along with various theoretical concepts, an official release informed.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarter) Tatdo Borang in his address asked the trainees to ensure a free and fair election process in the district.

Borang informed that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has been introducing EVMs with VVPAT for the upcoming election process.

“Election is a huge exercise and a strenuous job, involves huge machineries and almost all the government employees are pressed into service to carry out different duties which are all important for successful polling,” the ADC said.

“Everyone has to strictly adhere to the strictures passed by the ECI,” he added.

While advising the polling personnel to attend the training sincerely, Borang opined that amidst serious election preparations, many habitual escapists try to get exempted from election duties, submitting false medical certificates but only genuine cases would only be considered by the authority.
