Training programme on soil testing held

GAURISAGAR, Sept 1: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Sivasagar organized a training programme on ‘Soil testing and its importance’ at Phulpnichiga Changmai gaon, Phulpanichiga recently on the outskirts of Sivasagar .

Participating in the training programme as a resource person, Rupjyoti Borah, soil scientist, KVK, Sivasagar,  reiterated that production could only be assured by proper soil health care magement practices. A total of 28 participants were specially intended to every household of the village which is adopted by KVK, Sivasagar in the vision to double farmers’ income by 2022.

After the hands-on training on soil sampling techniques, composite sample preparation and filling up of proforma were explained in detail. Lowland soil of the village has already been completed and soil health cards have been provided. Currently, the homestead soil testing is in progress to initiate homestead cultivation of vegetables and other horticultural crops. After the training, Rupjyoti Borah and Priyanka Dutta, SMS (Agronomy), conducted field identification of pests and diseases in paddy fields of the village and suggested control measures.
