Tributes paid to martyred soldiers, hunt for militants continues

DIGBOI, Nov 21: Top officials of Dinjan based Army fraternity, led by senior Army and police officials, paid tribute and laid wreath during a ceremony held on Sunday morning at Dinjan HQ in Tinsukia district for the three soldiers killed in the militant attack on an Army convoy on November 19 at Pengaree.

The army fraternity, following the condolence, laid wreaths on the coffins of the martyred soldiers Havelder Multan Singh (42) of Uttar Pradesh, yak rpat Singh (38) of Rajasthan and Rishi Paul Singh of Harya to recognize their supreme sacrifice at a somber ceremony held at the headquarters amidst a significant gathering.

However, after the ceremony, the Army made arrangements for transporting the mortal remains of all the martyrs directly to their respective hometowns.

Meanwhile, the combined security forces belonging to different wings of the Indian Army have been driving hard to b the militants involved in the gruesome attack upon the soldiers of 15 Kumaon Regiment of Indian Army based at Pengaree on the Digboi-Pengaree Road when the army convoy was heading towards Digboi.

Besides carrying out intense and constant cordoning and counter-insurgency operation in all the possible vulnerable hideout belts of the district and neighbouring locations of Aruchal Pradesh, the security forces have been laid on special format to realize the end at all cost. Though all-out efforts have been rendered since the last two days, the desired outcome is yet to be seen. The militant hunt operation is being carried out based of an FIR registered under Pengaree case No 63/16 prosecuted u/s 120(b)/ 121/ 121 (a)/ 341/ 350(c)/427/302/307/379 of IPC r/w Sec 3/4 of Explosive Substance Act r/w Sec 25(1-a/27(2) of Arms Act r/wSec 10/13 UAPA Act.
