JOYSAGAR, June 4: An important tripartite discussion was held under the chairmanship of Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner PG Jha on Sunday in the Sukapha Bhavan of the DC office premises where Sivasagar district administration officers, ONGC Assam Asset officers and the representatives of All Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad took part. The discussion was called urgently by the Sivasagar district administration as the TAYPA members called an indefinite ONGC bandh from May 28 and following this, all the drilling and production activities of ONGC had been partially paralyzed.

Also, 15 rigs run by some private companies under ONGC, Sivasagar were also affected by the bandh. Therefore, to create a normal and peaceful atmosphere in ONGC, Sivasagar, the Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner took this initiative and called the agitating organization as well as the ONGC Sivasagar authorities to have a firm and friendly discussion over the issues raised by the organization.

In this discussion, various demands raised by TAYPA were discussed, like the demand of opening the appointment drive for educated unemployed youths of Sivasagar within a short date, giving priority to the local unemployed youths of the district in various supply and other contract works and repairing and renovating of many important public roads by the ONGC in Sivasagar. After this tripartite discussion, the All Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad formally called off their ONGC indefinite bandh, following which normal drilling and production and other regular work was carried out in ONGC, Sivasagar from Monday.
