Tripura cadre officers in demand in other states: Manik Sarkar

From a correspondent

Agartala, July 2 : Tripura cadre officers —IAS, IPS and IFS — are in high demand in central government departments and in other state governments.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar stated it while iugurating the IAS training centre setup in Agartala by the Holy Cross College in collaboration with the Delhi based institution ALS’.

“Tripura cadre officers are in high demand as they are honest, efficient and discharge their responsibilities in a transparent manner,” Chief Minister said.

He said as a people oriented government is functioning here and working in such a different atmosphere, it makes even the officers acquire a different approach and attitude towards their work.

“We often get request from central government departments and other state governments for extension of deputation of the officers after the tenure is over. When we ask about the reason they tell us that these officers are efficient, honest and transparent,” Sarkar added  He said the government in the state functions with a definite plan and program and in a time bound manner which have reflection on the officers.

He lamented that most of the Tripura cadre officers are coming from other states and they are interested to work in metropolitan cities. After spending the cooling off period they become restless to get posting in metropolitan cities.

‘It caused serious problem for us’, he said and added that the only solution to such problem is if we can get IAS, IPS and IFS from our own soil and expected that the training centre set up by Holy Cross College will become a great help in this regard. He urged the college authorities not to compromise with quality and assured all help from the government.

Professor Mihir Deb, president of the Tripura Board of Secondary Education and a faculty with the Delhi based ALS institution Manish Kumar Mondal were present on the occasion.  President of the Holy Cross College Immanual Kallarackal delivering his welcome address said that their endeavor to give quality education will continue.
