Tripura: Congress Gears Up to Provide Basic Amenities in Rural Areas
Guwahati: A convention was held at the conference hall of Congress Bhawan in Dharmanagar of Tripura on Monday under the initiative of the Dharmanagar Block Congress.
As per reports, supporters and members across the North District participated in the meeting. Tripura Pradesh Congress Chief Birajit Sinha along with other Congress leaders including Nirupam Dey, Kohinoor Roy, Ajit Das, and other Congress leaders was present in the meeting.
It needs to be mentioned that, the meeting was organized under the banner of the ‘Congress Apke Dwar’
It may also be added that this drive has been launched by Congress president Rahul Gandhi with the intention of paying door to door visits by Congress supporters and learn about the problems faced by the people dwelling in the village areas especially.
Addressing the meeting, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee, Chief Birajit Sinha stated that during the drive they have witnessed that the condition of the people in the village areas is extremely critical. They don’t have access to food, water or treatment.
A village is Gandacherra have no access to any work, not even the MGNREGA is provided to the villagers. However, as per the drive initiated by Congress President, Rahul Gandhi, after visiting every doorstep the Congress supporters will report the matter to Rahul Gandhi.
It needs to be mentioned here that, it is the responsibility of the Department of Rural Development which spearheads the issue of eradication of rural poverty, through its various programmes & endeavors to reach out to the last and most disadvantaged sections of society and also provide them with avenues of employment, be it self-employment or wage-employment.
The Rural Development Department is responsible for the implementation of various Centrally-sponsored, State-funded, and Externally-aided schemes for poverty alleviation, employment generation, sanitation, capacity building, women’s social and economic empowerment, apart from the provision of basic amenities and services.
However, several villages in Tripura lacks in all the basic amenities and services and development is still a far away vision.
Nevertheless, this drive under the banner of 'Congress Aapke Dwar', the vision of meeting all the demands of the common people can be expected.
