Tripura Trimool likely to hold state conference in February

AGARTALA, Aug 31: Encouraged by the Speaker’s decision that the merger of six former Congress MLA’s in Trimool Congress as valid and recognized it as biggest opposition party in Assembly, the ruling party in West Bengal , is now planning to strengthen its organizatiol base in Tripura and is going to have its first state conference sometime in February.

It is learnt that a full-fledged state committee will be formed at this conference when the party chief and Chief Minister of Bengal Mamata Banerjee may remain present.

Sources in the party said pending the formation of a full-fledged committee an ad-hoc committee may be formed to run the organization. The vice president of the party Mukul Roy indicated that a fil decision in this regard will be taken only after Banerjee returns from her abroad tour on August 10.

She has left for a weeklong Europe tour on August 3.

Banerjee has congratulated her party leaders in Tripura after six member Trimool legislative group got Speaker’s recognition. TMC is the biggest opposition group in Tripura Assembly now and expecting that its leader will get recognition as leader of the opposition.

The party has also decided to step up organisatiol activities as Mukul Roy is going to visit Tripura twice in a week time on August 4 and 8 to address two public meetings at Udaipur and Dharmagar. The president of the party’s youth wing Abhisekh Banerjee is also scheduled to visit Agartala on August 23.

It is learnt that the party is taking up series of such programmes to increase presser on the Left front government.

The party has already appointed Sushanta Choudhury as the president of state unit of the Trimool Youth Congress. Earlier Susanta Choudhury was the president of Youth Congress who revolted along with the then Leader of the Opposition Sudip Roy Barman protesting against Congress’s alliance with CPI (M)  in West Bengal.

Roy may announce committees for other frontal organisations of the woman, trade union, student etc during his visit next week.
