Trophy to be displayed in Guwahati from Aug 31

GUWAHATI, July 3: The first steering committee meeting of FIFA U-17 World Cup held at the conference room of the Chief Minister’s Office in Jata Bhawan here today.
The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, the meeting took stock of the last minute preparations for the nine matches that would be held in Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium. The meeting also deliberated on the role and responsibilities of the different departments in holding the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The meeting reviewed the fringe facilities like street lighting from Lokapriya Gopith Bordoloi Intertiol Airport to Sarusajai, garbage disposal, beautification works, security arrangement and other amenities for the football lovers.
Tourment Director Xavier Xeppi and Venue Director Romma Khan expressed their satisfactions over the arrangements made so far for the conduct of the games. The meeting also decided to do the needful for the security and public viewing of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Trophy which would remain in Guwahati from August 31 to September 5.
Meanwhile in another meeting Chief Minister Sonowal also reviewed the preparations of the AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championship to be held in Guwahati from November 19 to 26 under the collaboration of Government of Assam and Boxing Federation of India.The competition will feature 200 tions involving more than 300 pugilists and 150 officials. Sonowal took stock of the security, accommodation, fince and accounts of the competition and assured all government support and assistance in making the tourment a success.
