Two arrested for producing fake documents for NRC update

JOYSAGAR, June 9: Two suspected Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by the Sivasagar Police on Friday following an FIR lodged by the Sivasagar District Executive Magistrate-cum-RCO, Sivasagar, S. Goswami. As per information, Salamuddin (40) of Desang Kinar village under Khelwa Development block and Ashikur Rahman (41) were found guilty during NRC documents verification drive which was held in Khelwa development block and conducted by the district administration in recent times. Sources revealed that both the accused has produced many suspected documents during the verification and the NRC officers were unable to verify the information provided by the accused. After thorough examination, the administration lodged the FIR and police arrested the suspected Bangladeshi nationals who had already married two local women of Desang Kinar and Betbari area.
