Dibrugarh, June 18: Two of Assam Rifles jawans, including one Nayak Subedar, were killed and several others injured when a joint action team of ULFA, Asom (Ind) and Socialist Council of Nagaland, ambushed the Assam Rifles party at Abo village under Aboi LAC, 35 km away from Mon in Nagaland on June 17.

The press communiqué issued by ULFA (Ind) deputy information and publicity secretary, Arunodoy Asom, while taking the responsibility of the ambush and killing, claimed that at least four Assam Rifles jawans were killed and they looted a large number of arms and ammunition from the ambush site.

According to all available sources, the slain jawans were Nayak Subedar Cham Bahadur and Rahim Alam Hussain. The injured were later identified as Sachin Kumar, Dilip Singh and Konyak. The back-up team of Assam Rifles launched a massive combing operation in the entire area immediately after the incident.
