Two day Bhagawat recitation event will be organized in Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: A two day long Bhagwat Purana recitation and interpretation event will be organized at Maitree Ashram, located at Ujjalpur under Lilabari area in Lakhimpur district. The event will be organized on April 21 and 22 in revered memory of Gunada Bhuyan and Lakhi Phukan, the founders of the Asharam which was established following the ideology of non violence and humanitarianism of Mahatma Gandhi and his disciple Santa Vinoba Bhawey.

On April 21 at 10am, the Bhagwat Purana recitation programme will be inaugurated by Lakhimpur Post-Graduate College principal Rukma Gohain Baruah. In the event, the recitation of the Bhagawat Purana will be performed by Hrishikesh Borah of Narayanpur while the recited part of the scripture will be interpreted by Pramod Saikia of Phoolbari and Dhaniram Chetia of Shimaluguri. A group of woman artistes from Jorhat will stage a bhaona, named ‘Rukmini Haran’ in the evening on April 22. The bhaona is sponsored by Babul Bhuyan and his family.
