Two-day Kishan Mela begins at Haflong

HAFLONG, Dec 16: NC Hills Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member (CEM) Debolal Gorlosa iugurated the two-day Kishan Mela by lighting the lamp in presence of BJP District resident Deben Thaosen, Executive Members, Subrata Thaosen, Niranjan Hojai, Debojit Bathari, Biswajit Daolagupu, Ihuing Pame along with departmental officials and farmers from the district on Friday.

The two day KIshan Mela was held with the aims to provide modern technological knowhow to the farmers of Dima Hasao district through semir, farmer-scientist interaction and training to farmers.

Apart from training, an exhibition was also organised where farmers put up stalls to showcase their products. The exhibition was also participated by Fisheries and Soil Conservation departments.

Executive MemberĀ  Subrata Thaosen, who is the in charge of Agriculture, in his presidential speech said the department of Agriculture in Dima Hasao has been doing a lot for the development local farmers and local produces which is considered to be organic and much sought after in other places.

To enhance the lifestyle as well as the products of the farmers, the NCHAC, Central government and the state government is very much committed but at the same time farmers should also be cooperative while implementing the schemes. They should avail the opportunity in the fullest form.

CEM Gorlosa while appreciating the EM Thaosen for his active efforts towards the development of agriculture in the district, where most of the people are agriculturists but discouraged the jhuming practice and encouraged to adopt new and modern technique to enhance their production.

In his enlightened speech he appealed to the farmers to avail all these government schemes in meaningful way.

He also mentioned PM Modi and other who are advocating for creating Northeast an organic hub in which farmers of Dima Hasao could also participate as they are also having more potentialities.

Earlier S Thangew, Addl. Director of Agriculture, Dima Hasao explained the objective while appealing to the farmers to be more active in enhancing the productivity adopting scientific methods.
