Two-day tiol semir held in Soi

Silchar, Sept 1: An UGC sponsored two day tiol semir on “Role of Sufis in Assam to spread commul harmony and brotherhood among the populace of the state: A bond of fraternity” organized by the Department of Persian, Madhab Chandra Das College, Soi, Cachar concluded on Wednesday. The valedictory ceremony was organized in collaboration with the Interl Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). This is the first tiol level semir held at the initiative of Dr. Abdul Khalique Laskar, assistant professor of Persian, and also the first such event in the history of department of the College. The semir was iugurated Tuesday at 10 am by lightning of the auspicious lamp and singing of iugural song.  The iugural session was presided over by Tajamul Ali Mazumder, founder principal cum president of the governing body of the College.  Prof Mazhar Asif, Head, Department of Persian, Gauhati University, attended the semir as the chief-guest. The semir was divided into four technical sessions. A total 48 research papers on the role of Sufi and Sanths cutting across religion and community of Assam to spread commul harmony and brotherhood among the people of the state were presented by different scholars from different fields of studies. The organizing committee are preparing themselves to publish those research articles in book form shortly. A host of intellectuals from different centres of higher education of this valley took part in the deliberations and discussions.
