Two Eight-Year-Old Minor Girls Sexually Molested in Arunachal Pradesh, Accused in Police Net

Naharlagun: At a time when the government and the law enforcement department are leaving no stones unturned in order to stop sexual crimes and rapes of women and girls, another heinous incident of alleged sexual molestation of two minor girls has surfaced in Arunachal Pradesh.

Police said that soon after the matter came to light, the department immediately arrested one accused on charges of sexual assault on two minor girls who are aged around eight years.

Naharlagun Superintendent of Police, P M Harsha Vardhan informed the media that the accused has been identified as Nabam Guma, 30, who used to stay in the same colony as the victims.

Police sources further informed that the accused allegedly lured the victims to a nearby forest on Sunday morning and sexually assaulted both the minor girls. SP further added that the accused is married with three children.

The SP assured that the department is committed to the safety of women and children and that this case drew their highest attention leading to the immediate arrest of the accused.

Meanwhile, a case (No 89/18) u/s 363, 323, 34 IPC and 6 POCSO Act has been registered with Itanagar Woman PS and the accused was produced in court on Monday.

Less than a week earlier, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man at Darranga Mela in Baksa.

The accused identified as Fhalu Ali is a driver by profession was returning with the car after dropping some passengers in Patkijuli village in Tamulpur area. After, he met the girl on his way he offered her for a lift.

Reportedly, the girl had accepted the proposal and went inside the van and was being allegedly raped by the driver Ali thereafter.

It is to be noted that after traveling in and around the village, Ali dropped the girl late at night in Dewan Market of Darranga Mela Police Station where the girl had spent the night at her relative’s place and came back to her home on September 15.

Following the incident, the victim girl had narrated the incident to her parents and an FIR was lodged by the parents at Darranga Mela Police Station.

Ali was taken into police custody and his vehicle was also seized by the police.
