Two extremists apprehended, arms recovered in Gossaigaon counter-insurgency operation

Gossaigaon: In another counter-insurgency operation at Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district, Gossaigaon based Army unit of Red Horns Division and Assam Police in a joint operation apprehended two extremists.

The extremists has been identified as Salimudin Siekh (36), son of Joynal Abidien of Plashguri village and Edwin Marandi (29), son of Simon Marandi, resident of Bhauraguri, Kokrajhar district. The joint team also recovered one 7.65mm pistol, 12 rounds of live bullets with magazine and one smartphone from the possession of the cadres. Official sources stated that Salimudin Siekh belonged to the armed outfit Muslim Tiger Force (MTF). The arrested cadres along with the recovered items have been handed over to Gossaigaon Police Station for further inquiry.
