Two girls rescued from Chandigarh

Bongaigaon, Nov 26:  Bongaigaon Police, in association with Chandigarh Police, rescued two kidpped girls from Chandigarh. Both the girls, along with one woman trafficker identified as Banikanta Ray (55), a resident of Duramari area under Sarbhog PS of Barpeta district, were brought back to Bongaigaon on Friday night.  Among the victims is resident of Mazgaon area of Bongaigaon and the other is a resident of Khagarpur area of Abhayapuri. Hridayjit Barman, Bongaigaon Superintendent of Police, said that the girl from Mazgaon was kidpped on October 21 (Case no BNGN 66/16 Us 366(A) IPC). “When the family members of the girl lodged FIR in this regard, police started investigation and at first, on suspicion arrested one person med Bipul Ray. Following his confession, police arrested another person med Fanindra Ray. When Fanindra was interrogated, then police came to the conclusion that the main culprit was Banikanta Ray. We then traced Banikanta through his mobile number and found that he is in Chandigarh. One of our police team moved to Chandigarh immediately and with the help of Chandigarh Police, on November 23 the girl was rescued from a house in Manimazra area of Chandigarh. From there, we rescued both girls and also bbed Banikanta,” he said.Banikanta was produced in court and sent to jail. Both the girls have been handed over to their families after medical test.
